Desperate For More Traffic?

Here is a fun way to increase your traffic. Property Management traffic can be easy with this technique.

Logically, to lease more apartments, you need to come into contact with more people. So… where do you start?

Make a list of your hobbies and interests. Look on the Internet, in the paper, and in community guides to find groups or meetings related to your hobbies. This will be fun because you’ll be networking while doing an activity you love!

STEP #1
Start by making a list of the following things:

What are your hobbies?
What activities do you enjoy?
What are you an expert at (outside of the apartment business!)?
What charity do you support?
If you won the lottery tomorrow, what activity would you spend more time doing?

STEP #2
Now do a little research and make a list of clubs, organizations, and groups that match your interests.

STEP #3
Visit the clubs to see if you’d like to join. Get the information and run the idea and membership costs (if any) by your boss. Perhaps your company will pay for some or all of the fees.

STEP #4
Attend the meetings and be yourself. You’ll meet tons of people who share your interests. One of the first questions you’ll be asked, “What do you do for a living?” is the perfect opening!

Make sure your response is interesting. If you say you are a “leasing consultant” or “I manage apartments”... BORING!!! You know your job is WAY more than that.

Come up with an interesting response and – even better – tie it in with the hobby.

For instance, if you joined a bike club, “I lease apartments – we’re the apartment community right on the bike path near Main Street.”

If you joined a motorcycle group, “I’m the manager of XYZ Apartments. You know the one – we have garages with many of our apartments and a motorcycle/car wash area.”

IT’S A WIN-WIN
You are the perfect match for these folks, – as what you have (apartments) could match their needs. Since you share the same hobby or interest, you’ll have something to talk about. This starts the relationship off light-
years ahead of cold-calling someone on the phone.

Customize what you have with what your activity or hobby is. Get out there and network. You’ll have fun doing it – after all, it is YOUR passion and hobby – and you’ll lease apartments too!
